If you’re not talking about the tone of your drums and are wondering about tuning them so they are even, then yes that is important all of the time. However, be careful what the cord sequence is- people come up with crazy chord sequences that sound fantastic to serve a song and so you have to tune your drums very specifically. My point is that it does work and you can do it all kinds of ways. Now it doesn’t always work, but an A will work in most situations.
